We made it to the Murray River

Forgot to include this pic last time of the big trout in a small town between Cabramurra and Wodonga.

Well we spent part of the day in Glenrowan. We cycled into town then wandered around the various shops and displays with the highlight of the time being a self guided tour around a number of Ned Kelly sights.

We saw the old railway station where the police arrived and situated themselves for the siege. We visited the location of the Glenrowan Inn just across the road and also the spot where Ned Kelly was finally captured.

 And a Big Ned Kelly!!

Some interesting memorabilia in a town that survives solely on tourism.

Wednesday we went to Beechworth which was a beautiful town, similar in many ways to Bowral, with a lot of historical buildings and quaint craft shops. We all enjoyed a tour of the Beecchworth honey shop and the free samples. We couldn't buy any honey as you can't take any honey across the border into South Australia and we will be there in a few days.
We even got to send a telegram which was done in morse code...very cool.
Although thee kids seemed more interested in trying out the ancient message creator..which was more commonly known as a typewriter.

Then off to Wangaratta for some shopping and dinner in the park. Lovely position.

Up early this morning and we hit the road by 8.30 for Echuca and finally got to stand beside the Murray river. I find it beautiful but TJ commented on the difference between here and NZ. She was expecting a lot bluer water and greener landscape. We are going to head off again tomorrow after a look around town aiming to get to Mildura about 400 kms west of here further up thee Murray. Apparently the water is clearer and better for a paddle steamer ride etc.

The kids have been great with their school work.

Life is rolling along very nicely!!
