Following the Murray

We had a great morning looking around Echuca. Very pretty and some great pics taken.

Sorry about all the pics but it was hard to choose.

Then we headed out of town but before we could move onto Mildura we went back about 20kms to the east of Echuca to a place called the Golden Cow. It is a small farm that shows you the life of a dairy farmer. We got to take a picture with the giant milkshakes.

Then inside to learn about dairy farming. We got to see cows milked by machine then used the milk to feed six very hungry calves and five even hungrier lambs. The kids had a blast feeding the little ones and laughed so hard when the cows weed. It was hilarious.

Fantastic and recommend it to anyone who gets  down that way.

Then we were off to Mildura. 400kms. We left at 1.30 so it was late when we got in.

Guess what we saw at Swan Hill!!!

Yes it is a Giant Murray Cod.

Our good friend Andy came down from Broken Hill to meet up with us. He is on his way to Sydney so has set his tent up on our site and is hanging out with us for a few days.

Spent today looking around Mildura.
Went on a Paddle steamer.

It left from directly across the river from our caravan park. Went through one of the 11 locks on the Murray which was really interesting as it drops down a little over three metres.

Then out to Woodsies Gem shop just out of town which was really cool. Amazing gems and then into a giant maze out the back of the property that took us almost an hour to find our way out of. Great fun for big and little kids.

Then we had a yummy coffee right on the water...thanks Andy.

Funnily enough Guy Sebastian is playing a concert tonight in  Mildura which is being held at an outdoor stage directly across from us so I am listening to him singing away while typing this under our awning on our campsite.

This really was a good decision.

Life is great!!!

  2. Me too! Hey, every day sounds fabulous. You're seeing so much in every place you visit, and so many big things.

Thanks for the telegram from Beechworth. It brought back very good memories of our time there on our cycling trip.

    Hugs to all.
